How do I know you are a good tutorIn short, until you have experienced a tutoring session, you won't know. That is why I offer a free consultation session so that you can assess my teaching style. I am a fully qualified maths teacher who teacher maths at a Secondary School in Kent from KS3 up to an including KS5
-
Can you predict my grade?Whilst I can work out approximately what grade you might be working at - It would be unprofessional and misleading for me to predict your final grade - your school maths teacher will have a far better picture of the grade you are working at as they hold data, test scores and will see you up to 9 hours per fortnight in class I have had occasion to correct tutor assumptions on grades (often inflating grades to parents) this is unhelpful for the student
-
Aren't you just using materials you use in a school maths lesson?Whilst the maths content is the same - the approach is created on student by student basis. I use the initial free taster session to gauge any gaps in the students knowledge and build a program to suit the needs of that student
-
How often should I be tutored and over what period of timeThere's no correct answer for this - no 2 students are the same As a guide - we would advise 1 x 55 minute session per week for GCSE year's 10 and 11 - It is a financial commitment but it will help your son/daughter achieve the desired result We do have student that have fortnightly sessions and others that I tutor several times per week as the maths exam date approaches
-
What makes you different to other maths tutorsIn short- I am a full time maths teacher teaching year's 7-13. I also run the Further Maths GCSE club at my school. I am an applied for Edexcel examiner. I therefore fully understand the most up to date curriculum for both Edexcel and AQA exam boards and can focus my tutoring attention to the key topics likely to appear in an exam and the new style of questions that are appearing on the exam papers Moreover, as a fully trained teacher I use a professional approach to learning - remember - just because someone is good at maths - doesn't mean they will be great at teaching it!
-
How do you tutorALL my tutoring is completed online via a google classroom - before each session starts students are sent a unique meeting code to join online
-
Is there a geographical region that you coverI can tutor to anyone in the UK assuming they have a secure online connection
-
What if my internet breaks down half way through a session do i still have to pay full amount?I'm a human being not a vast corporation - if your internet breaks down and we cant get back online - i will simply add time onto another session or arrange another mutually beneficial time to make up any lost time
-
Is it safe for me to leave my son/daughter online with youAs a fully qualified teacher I have fully DBS clearance. As a parent I can understand concerns about online teaching - If you have concerns that I would welcome you to sit in on the tutorial sessions. Alternatively - you can contact me via the contact links and we can set up a video call so you can get to know me before we commence tutoring
